Tempo uses resampling: changing speed also changes pitch. BPM analysis is an estimate. There is no AI stem separation, scratch/DVS engine, native plug-in hosting, or separate headphone cue output in this build.
A WORKING START, NOT A PARITY CLAIM
Your studio, your sounds.
Make your first song
Choose a genre, key and length, then select Create song. Four editable tracks appear: drums, bass, harmony and melody. Press Play. Select any pattern to change its notes below.
Open Mixer to adjust each track. Change its instrument in the inspector. Use Export to render a stereo WAV, individual track stems, or a Standard MIDI File.
Build from loops
The library includes 624 two-bar loops, 32 drum one-shots and 72 synth patches. The 26 style packs are included, not paid downloads. Drag sounds onto arrangement lanes or use + for a new track.
All bundled audio is original procedural synthesis under CC0. Guitar, orchestral and acoustic labels describe synthesized approximations, not recordings of real instruments. Loop pitch follows playback speed; C-root loops do not automatically follow the song key.
Record and perform
Record mic captures your chosen browser microphone with monitoring disabled to reduce feedback. Recordings stop at five minutes or the file-size cap. Connect MIDI requests basic note input, without SysEx.
Arm notes records incoming keyboard or MIDI notes into the selected pattern while the arrangement plays. Notes are quantized to sixteenth notes. Live keyboard audition is routed directly to the master, not the track effects.
Mix two tracks
Use the A/B library buttons, drag audio onto a deck, or import your own files. Play both decks, set their BPM, and move the crossfader. Set four cue points per deck; Shift-click to replace one. Loop a beat range or run an eight-second transition.
Sync matches playback tempo and a simple beat phase; it is not a downbeat-aware beatgrid. For untagged audio, check or correct the BPM estimate by ear.
Keep your work
The current arrangement and imported audio are autosaved in this browser's IndexedDB. Browser storage can be cleared or evicted. Save project downloads a portable .musicmagic project (legacy .cyanforge imports remain supported) with referenced imported audio embedded. Keep regular backups.
There are no accounts, cloud uploads, telemetry, or external CDNs. In Docker, the server delivers files; the browser handles audio. On another computer, open your exported project to continue.
Known boundaries
This is version 0.2.0, a functional preview. It is not feature-equivalent to MAGIX Music Maker or VirtualDJ and has not passed native Windows/Guix hardware or public-deployment acceptance testing.
Up to 32 tracks, 512 clips and 32,768 notes. Imports: 32 MiB each; decoded cache: 192 MiB. Offline exports: five minutes, including a short tail. Stereo WAV: 16-bit at 44.1 or 48 kHz. Stems are rendered separately through the master chain and may not sum exactly to the stereo mix.
Local, libre, and explicit
Program code is GNU GPL v3 or later. Bundled procedural sounds are CC0. Your own compositions are not automatically GPL merely because you created them here. Imported content remains subject to its own rights. MusicMagic is an independent working title; there is no affiliation with MAGIX or Atomix Productions.
Microphone and MIDI require permission and a secure context, such as localhost or HTTPS. Browser audio is not a hard real-time engine. Keep the page active for performance; scheduling stalls are reported in the status bar. Use headphones for microphone work.
